Mickey Factz Show @ New Music Seminar

Launching of the New Music Seminar, a three day showcase of artists both brand new and re-vamped, at NYC’s Webster Hall. Founded by Tommy Boy Records CEO and chairman, Tom Silverman, the seminar began in 1984 and featured then little known artist Madonna and has catapulted the careers of others since then. The seminar continues today and tomorrow, with tomorrow’s closing event announcing the winner of the “Artist on the Verge” competition. Tonight’s event is the “Artist on the Verge” finals, with live performances by newcomers Comic Book Heroes, Hotspur and Yonas. Check the link for registration details, schedules and view photos from last night’s opening hosted by Margaret Cho, with performances Naughty By Nature, Mickey Factz, Kat De Luna and Grammy-nominated Latino ska band, CuCu Diamante. George Steinbrenner [1930-2010]

Yesterday, we lost “The Boss” that is George Steinbrenner. Most likely to go down as the greatest sports team owner of all-time. The hard-nosed, controversial, New York Yankees general, lead the team to 7 World Series Titles and 11 Pennants. While also transforming the business of baseball, leading the franchise from $10 million to a $1.2 billion behemoth, of which began by him being the first owner to sell TV Cable Rights. He left us at the age of 80, on the day of the 81st All-Star Game. His presence in the owners box and on the field will we be missed. George’s legacy will be survived by his sons Hank & Hal, the preceding will most likely succeed as President/CEO of the franchise. And his daughters Jessica & Jennifer.
